We've been busy. Saige finished up school last Tuesday and like everything, she handled it well. I am a bit emotional, lol, the year went by way too fast. I took the kids to see UP at the drive in as a treat Tuesday night. It was very cute, I liked it. Saige passed out 20 minutes from the end in her car seat but Rylan watched the whole thing with me and loved it. I think he said "bird" and "balloons" no less than 3,000 times. He was just as excited about them at the end as he was in the beginning.
They both went to camp with my parents for the weekend. I think they had a good time, they are exhausted. Saige fell off her bike. She was quite proud of her teeny, tiny little scrape when she got home, showing off her battle wound. Then in the bathtub that pesky little brother of hers poured a cup of water over her knee. Suddenly it hurt so bad she needed peroxide. So I humored her and poured a cap-full of peroxide over the already scabbed, teeny tiny little boo-boo. Two minutes after that, with her knee back in the tub underwater she started crying that the peroxide hurt. Then her leg didn't work, she need to be lifted out of the tub and had to have a band-aid. She spent a good half hour hoping on one foot moaning and whining. I finally told her I will call the doctor in the morning and we could prepare for the amputation. She jumped up and said "it's a miracle, I am better"

Graduation
This morning was Saige's pre-K graduation. It was very cute. The class sang us some songs and got their "diplomas" and snacks. I got pictures of Saige with her teachers like she asked, and discovered they were really bad when we got home. So at some point in the last three days I need to get in there with the camera and get her new pictures like I promised.
I did actually remember my camera, the video camera. I need a new one, it takes really bad pictures, even for me and the video is not so great either. On a good note I did figure out how to get them on the computer! I am proud of myself. I wont share the video, only because the whole class is on there and I did not ask for permission to post other peoples children.
It only took 23 months
but sometime last week Rylan started calling me mom :) No mama or ma straight to Mom. Rob is dad-dee and Saige is Say-G. They have been for a very long time, he has never called me anything, just pointed. Instead of Saige saying 1200 times a day I now hear it 2400 times a day, lol.

Morons hard at work
This is the story posted on my local news here
Rochester (13WHAM) – It caused quite a commotion Tuesday morning: a bear sleeping in a 40-foot tree in Rochester. However, the story turned tragic when the bear fell from the tree after being tranquilized.
The Department of Environmental Conservation said the male bear had died after falling around 40 feet.
The black bear was seen running around a neighborhood in the northwest section of Rochester before it ran up a tree in the front yard of a house overnight Tuesday.
The bear slept in the tree during the night, and drew a crowd.
Two darts were fired at the bear and the second one hit. After being hit, it scampered higher into the trees and then fell. Crews tried to catch the bear in a net, but it appeared to hit the ground.
Officials said it will take about a week to determine what exactly killed the bear.
They shot a black bear that was in a tree with a tranquilizer, what did they think was going to happen? Did they really think, gee lets knock him out and maybe he will crawl down in his sleep? They couldn't wait until he came down on his own? You have to watch the video to truly appreciate the stupidity. Did they really think a net three feet off the ground was going to stop a big bear from falling 40 feet? Sure makes you feel good about the DEC, a bunch of well educated caring folks there. The funniest part in a not funny situation? It's going to take these morons a week to figure out what killed the bear. You know, what it took everyone else a half a second to figure out when we saw it- a clear case of death by stupidity.

The end is nearing
We've been keeping busy
Pre-K is almost over :( One more week and a couple of days the following week. I will be happy when summer comes but it has been such a fun year. I can't wait for Rylan's turn. Saige has always been such a great kid but I think Pre-K has been a wonderful experience for her, and will be for him as well. We are lucky to live in such a great district, not only is provided but the providers are really terrific. I can only hope that the teachers in the following years will be half as great.
Saige's teacher sent home a packet of sight words for Kindergarten a couple weeks ago with a note saying she thought Saige was ready for them. She has made some pretty good progress and most importantly she is really interested in them. She hounds me a few times a day to quiz her and she goes through magazines and books picking the ones she knows. She'll be reading me the Dr. Suess books before long.
I have joined them for almost every field trip, last Friday was the ice cream place. The one I finally remembered my camera for, not that i got any good pictures. I am just not capable. I really should take a class on point and shoot cameras for dummies. We walked across town with 32 kids who were divided by flavors. It was, as you can imagine, messy. LOL

Soccer ends next weekend as well, we are signed up for the fall. I am rather surprised at how much *I* enjoy it. I hate sports but it has been fun and I was glad she wanted to do it again. She has shown some good improvement, the whole team has. The first few games I was a bit nervous but they have really come along and they are more like actual games now. Swimming lessons start the week after school ends so we wont be too bored.
We have been outside enjoying our Spring, and so far so good. It actually has been Spring, not too hot, not to cold just perfect weather. Robby is bound and determined to turn them into miniature rednecks. There are now more than enough ride on toys to occupy them and then some. Of course they still fight over them, because they always want the one the other one has. Saige has been helpful with the gardening. Although next year I will be planting all by myself. I have a little bit of everything scattered everywhere. Rylan is helpful in trying to help weed, but, I swear he picks my plants on purpose. Thankfully he is short so the middle of the boxes are relatively safe, for now.
We had a meeting with Early Intervention this week, they will be coming to evaluate Rylan's speech after his birthday. I asked if we could wait until he was 2 because she said from what she had seen and we had said that he wasn't too far off track for being a boy. That was a relief. Hopefully it will go well and they will tell us he is perfectly fine. If not though it's nice to know there are options. He has started saying a bit more lately, I hope it continues.
Last night we went to the fireworks for the boxing hall of fame weekend. They were really good. Robby surprised us and showed up while we were waiting, can't believe he found us, but it was nice. I forgot my camera, shocking, I know. Rylan started crying at the first one, so I covered his ears and he FELL ASLEEP. He slept through the whole thing. This is the same kid who wakes up if someone sneezes 12 miles away. He slept in this morning though, THAT was nice. Unfortunately Saige did not. She was still up at an ungodly hour talking my head off. I kept telling her to be quiet and go play, she kept coming back every two minutes and hounding me about something else. Then she let the puppy out of her crate and couldn't unlock the back door to let her out so I had to get up, the dog woke up Rylan too.

My daughter is an informercial junkie
Saige is on an infomercial kick. We haven't really had the TV on at all since the weather turned nice, other than Curious George before bed, but PBS doesn't have these commercials. I have no idea where she gets this stuff or why it sticks with her. I am starting to think she must sneak down and watch TV while everyone is sleeping.
She has been hounding me to please get some upside down tomatoes. I had no idea what she was talking about but she kept asking. We went for a walk the other day and someone had a few hanging from their porch and she went nuts. "SEE MOM? I told you they were real, I TOLD you needed some of those" I asked what was wrong with my tomato plants and she says they are boring because they are not upside down and upside down ones WILL taste better.
Last week she was sitting on my bed when I got up and stumbled in the bathroom to bush my teeth. I am so not a morning person. As I was coming out she looked at me and said "Mom? do struggle to get the last bit of toothpaste out of the tube? Don't you think it would be nice to have a 'dispenner' on the wall and Rylan and I could get our own (yeah, I have been thinking right along what a great idea THAT would be) and you wouldn't have to waste or struggle anymore?"
Finally she also wants some sandwich/egg/cake cooker thing. The lady on TV bakes cake in it. I have no clue what this one is but wouldn't it be convenient to only have to make enough cake for just her so she could have cake everyday in only 8 minutes?

My ears are still ringing
Rylan was MUCH better today, thankfully. He did get up and get sick again last night. He was sitting with drinking his water when Rob came in and I convinced him to go sit with daddy so I cold go down and get the laundry and put the groceries away. He is a total daddy's boy, except when he's sick. He reluctantly went to him just in the nick of time, I barely got to the kitchen before Rob screamed babe! HA, yes I am mean. He (Rob) whined but I wasn't feeling bad for him, I got it a half dozen times and had to clean it too. But after he got daddy he walked up the stairs and waved. He wanted to go to bed. He slept through the night after that. I didn't sleep much, kept listening for him but he didn't so much as make a peep. That never happens, not even when he isn't sick so I had to keep going in to be sure he was alright.
It was rainy again today so we were stuck inside. Saige resisted all attempts at quiet activities, she was in a singing mood. She sang ALL, and I do mean ALL, day long. Songs that she made up, songs that made no sense, and then she would quiz me on them before moving to the next one. It's funny how one kid doesn't talk and the other doesn't shut up. Maybe they have something to do with each other. I try to remember that soon I will be missing these days but it's hard to not wish for just 2 minutes of quiet. It is extremely hard to write a letter and pay the bills when someone is throwing out random words right next to you. I do miss the days where I could tune it out, nod and say that's lovely but it doesn't fly anymore. Even worse, she gets mad when I wont sing these songs with her. It's hard to sing when they change by the minute and goes something like "the itsy bitsy horse went up the potato, down came the door and slided the monkey down" straight to "bus, car, foot, chair, brother, cat" with no tune at all. Apparently her musically ability comes from me.
When she did finally stop, it was while Rylan was in the tub. She stopped to get him to make animal noises. I was trapped in this tiny little echoing room while Rylan gave his version of cock-a-doodle-doo at the very top of his ear splitting lungs. Once I was convinced I would be deaf by the end of the night she went back to her strange songs and he continued to be a wolf, or a rooster or a sick combination of the two. Which lead to her stopping every three seconds to tell him to stop yelling because she can't even hear HIM think over all the noise. I bribed her with a movie and got them off to bed ten minutes early. I haven't done a damn thing since, the house is a mess and I just don't care. It's quiet in here and it's nice.
